| Posters for Inspiration and Creative Motion Teaching - posted July, 2010 |
|
Dr. Mary Ann Fritz and Frank A. Heller, III have been hard at work for approximately two years with St. Louis artist Laura Hellebusch to create a series of posters for teachers to use in helping their students learn more about Creative Motion principles. At Windswept 2009, three posters were unveiled and made available for sale. {pictured here}
Inspired, in part, by a series of hand-drawn posters drawn by workshop participants over several years, Laura decided to accept the challenge of putting Creative Motion concepts into graphic form. Some of the designs are strongly reminiscent of the the original posters, while others are inspired by others. The beautifully flowing artwork which rests behind the quote from Martha Russell, was painted by Dr. Fritz, and the digitally incoporated by Laura Hellebusch. These first results are very satisfying, and we are pleased to learn that more posters are in development.
"We've never met in person," said Dr. Fritz. Over time, and with patience, they have found a way of working together on these projects. Now, all those involved in Creative Motion study can benefit!
These posters are now available in our online bookstore. |

Boone Workshop 2009 -
The Boone Creative Motion Workshop held at Appalachian State University on March 28th was a great day of reconnecting with old friends and sharing Creative Motion concepts with new participants. Dr. Robert Smith and Dr. Jane Andrews presented basic Creative Motion principles in a new light to both veteran and first-time workshop participants. Workshop attendants ranged in age from sixteen to eighty-nine, and included high school, college, professional, and community musicians, expressive arts therapists, and music educators. One of the highlights of the day was when Dr. Charles Isley, workshop participant and professor emeritus at Appalachian State University commented, “I wish I would have known about this when I was a young student. My musical career would have been so much different.”
Great work Raychl and team!
