Creative Motion "On the road" |

We are especially pleased to hear of the many ways that Creative Motion teachers and students continue to spread the word.
Iowa Lions
Susan McGuire recently gave a small presentation of the Four Traits of Energy as outlined in the article by our own Frank A. Heller, III, in the Volume 7 edition of Creative Motion Journal. The title of the article is "A More Fulfilling Life: Creative Motion and the Four Traits of Energy." The audience was a noon meeting of a local Lions Club International in Iowa City/Coralville. Susan made sure each table had a Windswept brochure and Susan brought along a "Sean the Sheep" stuffed animal so that "the lion could lay down with the lamb" (they had a stuffed lion on the head table!)

Creative Motion, Music Therapy
and the Music Therapist
Phyllis and Tom Pasley led a four-hour class for massage students on Music Therapy and Creative Motion in February, 2009. "The class was well attended and participants were really enthusiastic. It generated a lot of interest among the students," said Tom. Class activities included a variety of expressive modalities. "I really enjoyed the experience," said Phyllis. There are plans to reprise the session next fall.

Boone Workshop 2009 -
The Boone Creative Motion Workshop held at Appalachian State University on March 28th was a great day of reconnecting with old friends and sharing Creative Motion concepts with new participants. Dr. Robert Smith and Dr. Jane Andrews presented basic Creative Motion principles in a new light to both veteran and first-time workshop participants. Workshop attendants ranged in age from sixteen to eighty-nine, and included high school, college, professional, and community musicians, expressive arts therapists, and music educators. One of the highlights of the day was when Dr. Charles Isley, workshop participant and professor emeritus at Appalachian State University commented, “I wish I would have known about this when I was a young student. My musical career would have been so much different.”
Great work Raychl and team! |

Help us spread the word!
Perhaps there is another conference out there which could benefit from one of our clinicians leading a Creative Motion session. Keep your eyes and ears open for ways we can help spread the word. The ad copy used for the trumpet workshop follows...
Creative Motion… put your best foot forward and get a leg up on the competition! Learn how to tune your body to harness its’ natural flow of energy to create a more confident, effortless and musical performance. The body is the first instrument and once it is in tune with your goals, you will gain improved breath control, accuracy, range and musical expression. Exercises in this class will include deep breathing, visualization, and easy movements that follow the meter and rhythm of the music. These techniques will be applied to standard orchestral excerpts for trumpet. Bring your instrument, tennis shoes (or stocking feet), water and comfortable clothing for an experience that will energize you and your playing! |
