Why would you want to sponsor a clinic or workshop?
Creative Motion® takes you past techniques and leads participants as they experience the essence of music at every level. from the musical elements themselves, to your own basic body and spirit reactions to music. Creative Motion helps students of all ages find a path to developing inner musicianship.
Contact the CMA Executive Board representative and Second Vice-President for Clinics/Workshops, secondvicepresident@creativemotion.org for any information you need. The nature of our work dictates that we discuss the workshops on an individual basis. We are more than happy to set up a phone conference. Sample promotional and informational brochures and recommendations from leading musicians are available.
Scheduling:
We can schedule the clinic or workshop to meet your specific needs. Participants can leave a two-hour introductory session feeling revitalized, re-energized, renewed and refreshed. However,
the Alliance recommendation for the amount of time needed to introduce the phenomenon of experiencing music using Creative Motion is a two-day, weekend event, usually for a Friday evening (1 - 2 hrs.) and Saturday all-day (6 - 7 hours) for a total of 9 hours of instruction. The Friday night reflection time gives participants a chance to process some of the new experiences that they will have before more experiences and information is given.
Content:
We begin by tuning our minds and bodies to their natural energized reaction to music. We unravel the mental process involved in getting to the pure energy of music as expressed through the body. Along the way, we may experience all kinds of music, and determine for each of us individually whether a piece affects us at the emotional, physical, mental or spiritual level principally. We might also single out music at the interval level, the note value level, or the melodic, harmonic and phrase levels. There are patterns in the body and in music which, when we become aware of them, can help us engage ourselves more completely. We use free-form body movement, mirroring, small discussion groups, and question-and-answer methods to open up our awareness.
We can tailor your workshop to meet your specific needs in regard to time,
content, and group size. To learn more about successful workshops you can click

Costs:
We are interested in helping keep costs low so more and more people can learn about Creative Motion. Expenses for the clinic or workshops include instructor transportation, miscellaneous costs and honoraria. The general honoraria rate is $90 for each hour of instruction. The total costs for a two-day workshop have ranged from $1,500 to $2,000 with nine hours of instruction. Our certified clinicians live in areas all across the US. Click the links at the top of this page to find an instructor in your region to help minimize transportation costs. For help in planning or for addiitonal information, contact the director of clinics/workshops (CMA second Vice-President). For workshops longer than four hours, two clinicians are recommended. We will work with you to select clinicians that will meet your instructional needs, and also try to keep transportation costs at a reasonable level.
Typically, these costs are met through registration and participant fees, grants, donors, or sponsorship by church groups, corporate sponsors or other organizations in your area, A limited number of grants from the Creative Motion® Alliance are available as well.

Here's what some recent participants had to say about their Creative Motion workshop experience:
This was quite well done, well organized and well rounded. I wouldn't change much. Can we do this for teacher inservice?
I learned how other people love music and how music uses everyday skills and techniques which, practiced, make life smoother.I left feeling very inspired, energized and I feel a new sense of confidence and joy in my daily life! |
