Each Creative Motion Class is tailored to match each specific group of participants, the overall goals identified for the group, and the time frame for the experiential learning sessions.
In general,
workshops begin with activities and exercises to tune our minds and bodies to their natural energized reaction to music. We unravel the mental process involved in getting to the pure energy of music as expressed through the body. Along the way, we may experience all kinds of music, and determine for each of us individually whether a piece affects us at the emotional, physical, mental or spiritual level principally. We might also single out music at the interval level, the note value level, or the melodic, harmonic and phrase levels. There are patterns in the body and in music which, when we become aware of them, can help us engage ourselves more completely. We use free-form body movement, mirroring, small discussion groups, and question-and-answer methods to open up our awareness.

Scheduling:
We can schedule the clinic or workshop to meet your specific needs. Participants can leave a two-hour introductory session feeling revitalized, re-energized, renewed and refreshed. However, the Alliance recommendation for the amount of time needed to introduce the phenomenon of experiencing music using Creative Motion is a two-day, weekend event, usually for a Friday evening (1 - 2 hrs.) and Saturday all-day (6 - 7 hours) for a total of 9 hours of instruction. The Friday night reflection time gives participants a chance to process some of the new experiences that they will have before more experiences and information is given.
Costs:
We are interested in helping keep costs low so more and more people can learn about Creative Motion. Expenses for the clinic or workshops include instructor transportation, miscellaneous costs and honoraria. The general honoraria rate is $90 for each hour of instruction. The total costs for a two-day workshop have ranged from $1,500 to $2,000 with nine hours of instruction.
For help in planning or for addiitonal information, contact the director of clinics/workshops (CMA second Vice-President). CMA can help provide marketing support, and a limited number of incentive grants are available each year. We have tried and true ideas you might consider, such as opening your event to public to help offset costs. Our certified clinicians live in areas all across the US so selecting an instructor in your region can help minimize transportation costs. For workshops longer than four hours, two clinicians are recommended. We will work with you to select clinicians that will meet your instructional needs, and also try to keep transportation costs at a reasonable level.
Typically, costs are met through registration and participant fees, grants, donors, or sponsorship by church groups, corporate sponsors or other organizations in your area, A limited number of grants from the Creative Motion® Alliance are available as well.
