Already planning!? Yes we are!
Plans for the next workshop are underway! Read here for more information.
Other Plans:
We are a currently shopping for workshop locations east of the Mississippi. Although we've been quite happy at William Jewell College, we are looking for the opportunities to make Windswept and Creative Motion more accessible to our colleagues who live in Kentucky, Virginia and the Carolinas.

THEME 2010: As we approach the 60th Anniversary, planners have embraced the theme: "Where it all begins again."
Features that workshop planners will be exploring are bringing the mountain-top experience to the workshop, since it may not be possible to take the workshop to the mountain, with visual displays and stories. Another idea includes allowing workshoppers to learn more about the founding mothers of Creative Motion, and honoring some yesteryear traditions of having a "Chinese Night" themed event on Friday.
2010 LOCATION UPDATE:
Planners have decided to recommend 2010 conference be in Liberty, MO at William Jewell College.
BEREA INFORMATION: Thanks to all who participated in our survey for planning 2010. In our research, we have learned that although the Berea Campus could accomodate us well with a wonderful large group space in the Woods-Penniman Commons, we currently would not have access to the music building, and incur additional expenses in piano rental. We have learned that the Windswept estate is being well-maintained and is now furnished as a retreat/meeting center at an affordable $50 per day. We have also learned that all meetings there must conclude before dark to ensure safe passage down the mountain road. Eileen Auxier reports that the Windswept view which so captivated both Margaret Allen and many a workshop guest over the years is likely overgrown, with limited viewing from the 2nd floor only.
We continue to investigate using the campus in Richmond, KY for Eastern Kentucky University, which would allow us the potential to visit the Windswept estate. Additional transportation costs would likely be incurred.
FUTURE SITE RESEARCH
As we continue our future site research, the short list of features we are looking for in a new location are:
- Classroom Space and pianos to meet our needs.
- Proximity to an airport.
- Safe campus in a beautiful setting.
- Affordable overnight accomodations and meals.
