Windswept 2006 was an awesome success! Near record-attendance found both returning workshoppers and newcovers once again on the lovely campus of William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri.
The Planning Committee began its work Saturday afternoon immediately following Windswept 2005. Through their hard work another successful, educational and enlightening week was had by all. Mary Hannah Klontz presided over her final meeting as president and offered thanks and kudos to many who helped the workshop be such a great success. Dan and Beth Dodson were outstanding student monitors, and Becky Shafer assumed her role as auction chair. She was also helped by a good many volunteers including Robin Hall, Eric Kesler and others. Director Phyllis Pasley had the logistics humming along smoothly, and many other workshop participants pitched in to help ensure a positive experience for all. Special thanks to van drivers John Hall and Tom Pasley who helped us surmount construction obstacles with regular van service.
Workshop innovations for 2006 found us with a newly re-designed participant workbook and incentives for members to "bring a friend." An opening event for first-timers to take a tour of campus in the company of a veteran workshopper was particularly well received! Under Susan McGuire's leadership a record-number of master class performers were heard this year.
One fun feature of 2006 found 4 married couples in attendance for much of the week with the Pasley's, Dodson's, Isenhour's, Hall's and the Pettit's! The Friday night student sharing was a treat as always, and the Friday evening ice-cream social theme of "Guess the Song Titles was so popular, 2007 planners decided to reprise it for Windswept 2007!
