Windswept 2009 - Inner Landscape theme
From the corners of the US, people gathered together July 19-25, 2009 on the campus of William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri to learn more about Creative Motion!

As a bonus, Mary Hannah also shared a special gift with all workshop participants of her latest composition-in-progress entitled "Lost" which we were able to explore within the evening choral class. Mary-Hannah - you inspire us all! We are so proud of all of you!

MAJOR MILESTONES
2009 found the group recognizing Eileen Auxier and John Morrison's 45 years of workshop attendance! We were fortunate to have Eileen with us for part of the workshop week, and celebrated her accomplishment on Wednesday. John Morrison's recognition for 45 years of consecutive workshop attendance was celebrated during the Friday night celebration.
EXPRESSIVE ARTS CLASSES
Both Adults and Students enjoyed daily classes in Expressive Arts during the 2009 conference. This daily class for adults was met with enthusiasm, and the length of time for engagement in the arts was extended to 1.25 hours. We continue to look for ways of bringing a balance to the schedule while continuing to offer a variety of classes.
APPLIED CLASSES
In 2009 we continued to combined the adult and student applied classes grouped by interest area, as we did in Windswept 2007 and 2008. "We decided to repeat this since it worked so well," said Phyllis Pasley, director. "We moved the classes to the early part of the afternoon, which also seemed a good fit for the participant needs. This configuration allowed us time for master-class style coaching, without over-burdening the evening master class time slot." Participants selected from among the tracks of piano, voice, instrumental tracks and independent studies, which allowed for exploration of Creative Motion application into the areas of dance, creative writing, and Eastern Energy Arts.
STUDENT CLASSES
The student class offerings for 2009 featured an afternoon session called Student Fundamentals led by Phyllis Pasley and Chris McKinney. Student Expressive Arts was a morning offering and was well-receved by all students. A recognition ceremony followed the Friday Evening Student-Led Celebration, which was a great culminating sharing time guided by our student afternoon class instructors.
Saturday morning's schedule was streamlined to feature Bach Chorales and breakfast followed by a final closing ceremony led by Jennifer Isenhour.
FAMILIAR FAVORITES
AUCTION
The annual silent auction was a real success. Hidden trinkets went to the top bidders. Thanks to all the generous donors of both auction items and winning bids!
Friday
Friday night's ice-cream party featured a twist to the guessing games -- "PLACES." Everyone enjoyed dressing up in costumes reflecting various locales around the world! Some caused us to really guess - which added to the fun! |
