Creative Motion Alliance Membership Meeting Minutes July 27, 2005
The meeting was called to order by President Mary-Hannah Klontz at 1:15 PM.
Welcomed new members Chris Watson and Jeff Pettit.

Approval of Minutes from Membership Meeting 2004
Phyllis Pasley submitted a motion that minutes be approved with two spelling corrections: Sheila Ostrander and Voces Novae. The motion was seconded by Lora Little. Motion approved.
Treasurer’s Report presented by Jackie Spear.
Windswept Financial Statement will be presented at Fall Board Meeting. Publishing costs for BEIW were $1,345.02. Copyright fees and postage will be approximately $1,400. Membership voted to take out of “cash on hand.” Liz Wallace submitted a motion the report be approved. The motion was seconded by Bob Smith. Report approved.
Efficiency in reporting will be greatly improved by a new laptop computer, 2005 QuickBooks Non-Profit, and Norton Firewall. Appreciation expressed to Tom and Phyllis Pasley for researching computers. Appreciation expressed to Jackie Spear for her hard work and years of service as Treasurer.
Committee Reports
Certification – John Morrison. There are five Level 3 candidates and three Level 2 candidates. The committee is working to see each candidate progress to the next level. Committee will contact those who are at time limits.
Publication – Mary Ann Fritz. The 2005 Journal featured article by Dr. Bob Smith on “Application of Creative Motion Concepts to College Piano Teaching.” Cost was $813.65 for 75 copies. The Journal is a way to give back to the community at large. Writing and publishing the Journal encourages us to continue to grow in understanding and experiential concepts.
BEIW was published this spring at a cost of $1,345.02 for 250 copies. The goal is the publication is to preserve Fluerice Tanner’s voice. Mary Ann did research for end notes and bibliography.
Mary Ann is currently accepting articles for the 2005 Journal. Members are encouraged to share the Journal with professional contacts. The Board will consider choosing select colleges to receive complimentary copies of the Journal. A subscription form will be placed on the web site.
Web Site – Tom Pasley. Creativemotion.org website has been updated. Cost for hosting the website is $95.52 per year. Tom requested member response on 1) ideas for sites that are attractive; 2) problems with function; 3) content for web site to be approved by President; 4) assigned pages for committee chairs with updated biographical information for Level 2 & 3 instructors; and 5) social page information. The members would like to see on-line registration for Windswept Music Workshop. Paying with credit cards could help cash flow. Appreciation expressed to Tom and Phyllis Pasley for their continue work with the web site.
Financial Task Force – Phyllis Pasley. Report attached. This task force was charged with looking at financial issues of CMA, and dreaming for the future. Ultimately, the Task Force would like to see the establishment of an endowment fund. The Task Force encourages increased communication efforts through use of conference calls, e-mails, and phone calls.
Fund Raising and Marketing – Phyllis Pasley. Target marketing for Windswept Music Workshop will be discussed at Fall Board Meeting. This will allow forward planning to help meet deadlines for magazine advertisements. Phyllis reminded the members that Margaret Allen invited people to the mountain. We need to personally invite colleagues and students to come with us to Workshop.
Auction – Susan McGuire. The 2004 auction raised $685.10.
Donations – Mary-Hannah Klontz reported that $450 was received from individuals for scholarship funds. $500 was received from Kay Taylor. Mary Ann Fritz suggested that a Windswept fund be set up for Kay Allen (daughter of Margaret Allen). Other than the auction, dues are the only other area where funds are generated. Mary-Hannah is initiating the PYGMY program (Pledge Your Good Money Ya’ll). Mary-Hannah expressed appreciation to John Morrison for his financial support of CMA. John wanted the group to have the freedom to dream again and his gifts are allowing that to happen.
Mini-Workshops. Doug Jones would like to establish geographical hubs and invite people to attend mini-workshops. The mini-workshop doesn’t have to be 1-1/2 days – could be an afternoon. Doug reminded the members that Level 1’s are able to have gatherings to further the purposes of Creative Motion. Could use “What We Do at Windswept” video. This would be a great resource for break-out sections at other conferences.
Dues. Phyllis Pasley moved that CMA raise dues from $35 to $50 for each adult. Mary Ann Fritz provided the second. Motion passed. Student dues will be $35 with the Board to make determination about age parameter of membership and dues structure.
By-Laws Committee – Jane Andrews. (Proposed changes attached).
-The Article III amendments do not affect any state or national laws – only our internal structure, so does not affect our 501-C status. Committee moved proposed changes. Second – Lora Little. Motion approved.

Article IV changes regarding faculty liaison position, allowing for staggered leadership and advance planning. Committee moved proposed changes. Second – Frank Heller. Motion approved.
Election of Officers. Nominating committee comprised of Lora Little, chair; Tom Pasley and Mary-Hannah Klontz.

Eric Kesler moved to close nominations. Jackie Spear provided the second. Motion passed.
Jane Andrews moved to accept slate of officers. Second - Tom Pasley. Motion passed.
Workshop 2005 & 2006: Marilyn Alcala. Workshop will return to William Jewell College for 2006. Workshop dates will be July 23-29, 2006. Other sites are being considered for Workshop 2007. The Energy Arts Classes have been well attended this year. Positive comments have been made regarding the combined applied classes. Appreciation was expressed to Marilyn for her leadership.
Old Business:
Mary-Hannah Klontz stressed that we don’t want to lose contact with those members who can’t attend workshop. A data base review will be conducted to update addresses.
New Business: Phyllis Pasley moved that CMA extend an honorary membership to Don Campbell, author of “Roar of Silence”, “Musical Miracles” and “The Mozart Effect.” Second - Mary Ann Fritz. Motion passed.
Phyllis Pasley made a motion that CMA extend an honorary membership to Naomi, Ashley and Wynona Judd. Second - Susan McGuire. Motion passed.
The Financial Aid Committee will review how scholarship money is distributed and applications are handled.
The Board will focus on marketing Creative Motion to the general public. Mary Ann Fritz will consult the articles of incorporation regarding our 501 C-3 status.
Virginia Brown Murphy moved to adjourn at 3:52 PM. Second - Phyllis Pasley. Motion carried.
