Inspired by the special presentations which helped us meeet the "founding mothers" of Creative Motion, Hilary Borton composed the double Haiku - "Four Sisters". The 2nd stanza was missing on the program. Here, it is repeated in its entirety.
Many of the class activities for Student FUNdamentals, were centered on the idea of "flow." Hilary also composed the following Haiku.

Four Sisters Living,
Living Life with Great Spirit,
Evermore Changing
Changing our life now,
From the past where they had taught
Eternal grace shines. |
During a class activity, students listened to a piece of music and verbally shared their responses. These words were accepted by Eleanor to use as a basis for creating a poem. [The piece was Grofé's "Father of the Waters" from Mississippi Suite.]
Journey of Life
By Eleanor Crowley
Based on contributions from the entire student class 2010
An unhearted harmony,
A chaotic peace,
A marred beauty,
A majestic beast,
Seeing the sun rising,
Ever when it sets,
What is behind what surrounds you,
A hidden garden behind a tall fence,
A journey that goes nowhere,
Swing without sway,
A breeze with no air blowing,
The rainbow, when the sun and rain play,
When we are born,
We live to believe lies,
We love, we breathe,
We grow old, we die,
We change as a leaf does,
From Spring to fall,
Not capturing the beauty,
Taking no time to stop at all.
When the waves are crashing,
And all the seasons are changing,
While the moon is rising,
And the sky is raining,
Whether day or night,
Rain or shine,
Take a look around you,
Breathe in the Journey of Life
