Windswept Music Conference

Join us for Windswept July, 2011!
William Jewell College - Liberty, MO

Windswept
is the annual summer conference sponsored by the Creative Motion Alliance. Often described as the place “where music and energy meet,” this unique interactive intergenerational learning experience is for musicians and music lovers ages 12-adult. Learners use music as a means of learning the principles of Creative Motion, allowing them to become more aware of energy in the body and within the music. Through workshop classes, we explore ways of applying this knowledge to musical performance, other arts and daily life!
Brief History
Martha Russell first uncovered the principles that she called Creative Motion after a lengthy personal study. She traveled to London to study withh Dr Yorke at the Royal Academy of Music, and Jacques Dalcroze in Hellerau, Germany. She acquired a new awareness of the importance of the body as well as the mind and spirit, in any form of creative expression. She advocated music "as an important fundamental for bining one's life into a unity...[T]he relation of feeling to action, inside to outside..." It was, at the time (1919-1921) considered new to the usual concept of education.
