Since 1951 Windswept Music Workshop has been forum for learning about the principles of Creative Motion using movement, and analysis of the body's natural responses to music. Windswept Music Workshop is a unique intergenerational learning experience for musicisans and music lovers ages 12-adult. Often described as the place "where music and energy meet," students use music to learn the principles of Creative Motion, and become more aware of energy in the bodyand within the msuic. Within classes, you'll explore the artistry of making music from teh inside-out and discover ways of applyin gthis knowledge to musical performance, other arts and your daily life!
From its beginnings in the private home of workshop founder Margaret Allen, this week-long workshop which is held on college campuses across the U.S. enables both students* and adults to explore the physiological pathways of energy within the body and discover barriers that inhibit the free flow of that energy. Participants learn exercises and mind-body techniques to enhance their creativity and expression.
Creative Motionprinciples are applied in the contexts of movement classes, master classes, and experiential groups.
Opportunities for specific application of Creative Motion principles include: piano, voice, instrumental music, music education, conducting, small and larger choral ensembles and other areas are offered.
